1. A fur coat that’s always in season.
The Newfoundland dog is a large working dog. They can be either black, brown, or white-and-black (called Landseer). However, in Canada, the country of their origin, the only correct colours are either black or Landseer.
They were originally bred and used as a working dog for fishermen in the Dominion of Newfoundland (which is now part of Canada).
They are known for their giant size, intelligence, tremendous strength, calm dispositions, and loyalty. Newfoundland dogs excel at water rescue/lifesaving because of their muscular build, thick double coat, webbed feet, and innate swimming abilities.
2. Legs for days.
The Irish Wolfhound (Irish: Cú Faoil, Irish pronunciation: [ˈkuː ˈfˠiːlʲ]) is a breed of domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris), specifically a very large sighthound from Ireland. The name originates from its purpose—wolf hunting with dogs—rather than from its appearance.
Originally developed from war hounds to one used for hunting and guarding, Irish Wolfhounds can be an imposing sight due to their formidable size.

The Samoyed (/ˈsæməjɛd/ sam-ə-yed or /səˈmɔɪ.ɛd/ sə-moy-ed;Russian: Самоедская собака or Самоед) is a large breed of herding dog, from the spitz group, with a thick, white, double-layer coat. It takes its name from the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia.
These nomadic reindeer herders bred the fluffy white dogs to help with the herding, and to pull sleds when they moved. An alternate name for the breed, especially in Europe, is Bjelkier.
4. But now there’s Freddy, Britain’s biggest dog — er, puppy!
The Great Dane is a large German breed of domestic dog known for its giant size. The German name of the breed is Deutsche Dogge, or German Mastiff. The French name is Dogue Allemand.
The Great Dane is one of the tallest dog breeds.
The record holder for tallest dog was a Great Dane called Zeus (died September 2014; aged 5), that measured 111.8 cm (44.0 in) from paw to shoulder. Scooby-Doo is a famous fictional dog of this breed.
5. Dog or lion?
The Tibetan Mastiff is a large Tibetan dog breed (Canis lupus familiaris). Originating with the nomadic cultures of Tibet, India, Mongolia and Nepal, its use by local tribes of Tibet to protect sheep from wolves, leopards, bears, large mustelids, and tigers.
