This Is How You Make Your Teeth Whiter Without Destroying Your Enamel
Our smiles are one of the first things people notice about our facial expression. That’s why dental health is important: we don’t want to seem unfriendly and antisocial by not smiling. Going to the dentist can be hard for a number of reasons like:
There are a lot of studies that show that conventional teeth whitening can damage the enamel of our teeth. Why is enamel important?
It’s the protective layer over the inside of your teeth, and it’s the hardest substance in your body. That’s why you should always do your research before spending money on chemical whitening. The good news is that there are plenty of natural ways to whiten your teeth at home. Here’s a list of different things you can use to get those pearly whites without destroying your enamel:
Turmeric. It might seem odd that a spice as yellow as turmeric can whiten teeth. However, it’s been proven that it’s good for reducing discoloration and eliminating any bacteria in your mouth (turmeric is also a natural anti-inflammatory). To use it, mix one tablespoon with water and make a thick paste. Them use the paste to brush your teeth for 3 minutes. Spit and rinse until the yellow is gone.
Clay powder. Bentonite clay is a source of calcium, magnesium and silica, all of which are enamel boosters. Use this method twice a week for better results. First, mix some of the clay with water until you make a paste. Then brush for two minutes and rinse thoroughly.
Coconut oil pulling.
Many people believe that coconut oil is the best for this method, but other plant-based oils also work (sunflower, sesame and olive are a few other favorites). Basically, oil pulling is the practice of letting your teeth ‘soak’ in the oil before you brush and rise. To do this, careful put some coconut oil on your teeth and let it rest on your mouth for 20 minutes. Then spit it out, brush normally and enjoy the benefits!
Activated Charcoal. Out of all the methods in this list, this one has the most superpowers. Activated charcoal is a natural, non-toxic substance known for its ability to remove toxins from any surface it touches. This is why it’s often used to treat food poisoning. Here’s how to use it to whiten your teeth: first, dip your toothbrush in warm water, then dip it in the charcoal. Brush your teeth gently, and use the charcoal to massage your gums if you want that extra toxin-cleansing boost. Then spit and rinse.
